Adobe Photoshop Tutorials :
This is the tutorial that will help you to know about managing Photoshop.
How to open PSD File:
As you know that PSD file allows us for easy modification of image file and it contains all image sources for your templates. Such files can only be opened in Adobe Photoshop for modification and it needs installation of the software in our system. Now follow the steps to mange your PSD files
- Open Adobe Photoshop on your system
- Go to File Menu in the Menu bar and select FILE/OPEN and then browse to the location of your PSD file
(Or) you can also open it just by dragging and dropping the file into the Adobe Photoshop window.(or) can just double click the file in your file browser and the file will be opened.
If you get any message that says “Some layers contain fonts that are missing” it means you have to install the fonts properly that are in your package.
How to change text in Adobe Photoshop:
In order to change texts in Adobe Photoshop first open the PSD file. If your PSD file is already opened
- Then press “T” key to use type tool.
- Click with type tool cursor the text you want to edit, and if any message that says fonts missing will appear then its clear that you have not installed all fonts needed to modify text. Further you need to install the fonts for which follow the Font installation section.
- A message will appear that says “Editing or rendering the text layer”. Just ignore it.
- If they are several rows in your text field then by pressing "Shift +ENTER" start typing from new line. You can get out of editing mode by pressing "Ctrl + ENTER" or can discard all editing changes by pressing "ESC" key.
- For changing some text attributes such as font family, style or color select text whose properties are to be modify and then
- Go to the options panel or you can see it by selecting Window/options from top menu.
- You can see four dropdown menus where first dropdown menu allows you to change the Font family but it’s not advisable to change it. Second dropdown menu is for font styles that may be bold, italic or regular. Third dropdown menu represents Font Size and fourth changes text rendering style
- For changing color of the text click color bar at options or tools panel for color picker window.
- For more advanced options press "Ctrl+T" after the text editing update those changes to your design templates.
How to change images in Adobe Photoshop:
To change the default image to your own image you need to first of all open your PSD source file in Adobe Photoshop ( refer How to opening PSD file section)
- For inserting your own image in your web design template source remove or hide the original image. For removing or hiding you should locate layer containing it for which Just click on the image holding CNTRL button. But before doing this check the content of layers.
- Go to layer panel choose Window\Layer if you can not view it find out highlighted layer in layer list. Now there will be a eye icon on the left of layer name click it some time to hide/unhide layer and observe which image elements disappears in the picture.
- If the image which you wanted to remove is the same one that disappeared then leave it or if you selection is wrong then repeat the process until you have selected the right image.
- To hide the image click on eye icon at the left of layers name to remove it click
trash icon at right bottom corner.
- Now to add your own image to PSD file drag and drop it from file browser to your Adobe Photoshop window.

Use File/Open form the top menu. The image will appear in separate window of Adobe Photoshop program which you can modify. That is modification means you can either crop it using crop tool (hotkey "C"), make some color adjustments for fitting your templates. For doing that select Image/Adjustments/Color Balance ... from the top menu.
- Now you have to move your image to your templates PSD window. For that select move tool from tools panel or ("V" hotkey) and drag and drop image using that tool to your template window of Adobe Photoshop.
- To move the image to the right location use same tool. If the inserted image overlapped by other image or text you should move it to upper layer.
- If your modifications are over you should update those changes to your design templates.
- To update the images choose
File/SAVE FOR WEB from top menu or use “CNTRL +ALT+SHIFT+S” hotkey
A saved message appears. For changing the optimization option for best quality/size balance and your site to download fast you need to decrease the image quality.
- Select slice using select slice tool at the right you'll see panel with image options where you can change the value of quality. Select Slice Tool. If you want to update several slices at once and also hold them with "Shift" button. After selecting click save button
- Save Optimized window will appear. Now browse to the HTML folder of you template and change File Type option as IMAGES ONLY and Slices option to SELECTED SLICES. You will get a confirmation window if everything is well or else see whether your specified path is correct or not. Also check for the image name as the name and image type must be same as image in HTML. Now check for modifications by launching HTML file.
